USB drivers are only required for the yellow GS-911 devices.

Manufacture and sales of the yellow GS-911 devices have been discontinued. This FAQ is kept for historical purpose.

You would probably only be doing this if you are suspecting a USB driver issue, or if you have installed the incorrect USB driver in the first place (allowed Windows to choose it's own driver)

There are two ways of doing this.

  • you can either uninstall the USB driver and thereafter follow the correct USB driver installation procedure
  • you can right-click on the USB driver and update it to the correct one...

Here is is step-by-step How-to..

Code
  • plug your GS911 into a USB port (not plugged into a motorcycle)
  • now get to the Device Manager (any average Windows user should be able to get to the Device Manager - there are several ways - here is an example...)

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager

Once you are in the Device Manager, expand the Universal Serial Bus controller section, and you should see a GS-911 device (if it is plugged into your computer at this moment!)

If you right-click on it, you can decide whether to choose the 'Update driver...' option (updating to the correct one, follwoing the same instructions as you would when installing a new one, i.e NOT letting windows chose it's own driver)

Alternatively you can choose the 'Uninstall' option, and there after follow the same instructions as you would when installing a new one, i.e. NOT letting windows choose it's own driver)

Symptoms

Your CD or DVD drive is not seen in File Explorer (called Windows Explorer in Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows), and the device is marked with a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager. Additionally, after you open the device's Properties dialog box, one of the following errors is listed in the Device status area:

  • Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

  • The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

  • A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

  • Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

  • Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

This issue may have occurred after one of the following situations:

  • You upgrade the Windows operating system.

  • You install or uninstall CD or DVD recording programs.

  • You uninstall Microsoft Digital Image.

There are various reasons why a CD or DVD drive is not detected. The resolutions that are listed in this article may help solve some instances but not all instances of this problem. You may also need to contact your hardware manufacturer for assistance with your hardware.
